Affordable Housing

Since 1987, RHAC has been developing affordable housing counseling for Rockland and Orange County residents. To date, RHAC has constructed over 450 rental and for sale homes for low/moderate income individuals and families.

Our first step and biggest challenge is to find viable building sites at a price that will enable us to build the homes at an affordable price. We then work with builders and developers who reduce their fees so we are able to build our homes, the same homes that are being built in the regular market, for a lower price. Grants and subsidies are then obtained to reduce the cost to rent or buy our homes for income eligible individuals.
